Basic Principles When Reading Your Bible

Remember that chapters and verses were added later on for easy reference so the scripture you are reading most likely goes with the scriptures around it. Therefore you need to read what it says before and after that scripture.

If you come to a scripture you don't understand, don't try to figure it out with your mind. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and go back to that scripture at a later date and re-read it.

Last, don't ever assume or guess what a scriptures means. It's better to say that you don't know then lead someone down the wrong path.

Buy a Bible that is easy for you to understand. If King James and New King James are difficult, I recommend the Amplified or New Living Translation.
